Spring Newsletter 2020

by | Apr 12, 2020 | Ladies

Our theme for this year is “Focus Your 2020 Vision.” This theme has an even deeper meaning today than we understood in January. We really need each other right now and the “hope we profess.” Hebrews 10:23-25 has been speaking deeply to my soul:

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

To hold unswervingly means to focus, be steady, unfaltering, hold fast to His promises and His faithfulness and the hope -confident expectation – we have of His love and eternal life. This requires faith and endurance even in the best of times and creates the ability to stir up those around us to love and service. This is a powerful community calling to build up and encourage each other. This moment is a time to pause and prepare for what God wants to do in each one of us, to reach out in creative ways and be ready as we see the Day approaching.

We hope the following words will speak to your hearts and quiet your souls.

Our Board President – Gary

It was an interesting moment when my wife, Heather, came in to where I was journaling and showed me where she had been reading in the book of Amos the night before. I smiled and showed her my open Bible which was at the same scripture she had been reading. Throughout Amos 5 the Lord keeps encouraging us to seek.  Seek Me, seek the Lord and live, seek good and not evil.  In this time of uncertainty, that still small voice of God does not change; He is unwavering.  He is faithful and true, calling out to His people.  Come to Me, I will not fail you.  Let us be a beacon of light – a light shining in the darkness.  Seek Him and live.

Board Member and Executive Committee Member – Ann

I would like to encourage all of you to turn any fears into faith. I have personally walked through a deep trial where all was lost. To the world, my circumstances looked hopeless; but with God, it was hopeful. God and God alone, turned what Satan meant for evil to good! He loves his children and promises to never leave us or forsake us. He will part the Red Sea for you. You are loved!

The following are the first paragraphs only from the following leaders.  I have attached the rest of each one to this email. I pray you can read them all. They will also be posted on our website’s blog.

Board Treasurer and Executive Committee Member – Debbie

During this 2020 world upheaval, we can look to the cross, specifically the blood Jesus shed on the Cross, as our bedrock. The Old Testament was a forecast to this.In Exodus 12:13-14 God asked His people to celebrate. Celebrate His merciful act of saving those who put the blood of the unblemished Lamb ove

the door of their house and then ate that very Lamb. Exodus 12:5,7 Today we also remember and eat a meal (Communion). We celebrate the merciful God who saves us as we call on the Name of the Lord.  Please see attachment for more…

Executive Committee Member – Holly Mahnke

One of the hardest things for me to do when I’m in the midst of a trial or challenging season is to control my focus. My human frailty often distracts me from heavenward faith. I can easily become subconsciously obsessed with anything that will distract my mind from feeling pain, stress, and sadness. Social media, entertainment, books, and other things can become negative tools that keep my heart from settling down to focus on the One, the Only One, who can bring peace, hope and a focus-shift from the temporal to the eternal.  Please see attachment for more…

Executive Committee Member – Treana

It has been said that these times we are finding ourselves in are unprecedented. One definition of unprecedented is stated as “never before known”. I think we can agree that what we are experiencing today is definitely an unknown to our entire local and global community of brothers and sisters. However, it is important for each of us to remember that it was not unprecedented to our Father. In fact, He not only knew, He also has known about this before we ever took our first breath.  Truly knowing this in my heart gives me great hope for tomorrow and His peace for today. Prayer Ministry Leader – Mylissa

The theme for this year at Kingdom Connection is Focus Your 2020 Vision.  I find it no coincidence that we were being built up and encouraged to not be distracted, but to keep our focus on Jesus and the eternal things… to work through our expectations and disappointments in order to settle ourselves on the goodness of God and His purposes…to rekindle our first love and the wonder of redemption…to meditate and ponder the character of God.

As the landscape of our lives change and we encounter opportunities to fuel either our faith or our fear, let us pause and be intentional to refocus. Let us remove our eyes from the threatening waves and dark clouds, and refocus on His Word, His goodness, His love, His purposes. Now is the time… Please see attachment for more…

Our mission – “We exist to give glory to God by loving and serving the body of Christ and offering connection, relationship and discipleship through community events.” As we pause our events for now, we are still fueled, inspired by the Holy Spirit and ready to offer encouragement and connection in whatever way the Lord leads and you have need.
